Many centuries ago, a mighty tree grew beside the old church of Arodes. One day, a young knight who was preparing to leave on a distant campaign came to the tree. An old man was sitting beneath it. “Have you come to pray?” he asked. “No. I have come to think.” “That is almost the same thing,” the old man replied with a smile. Before leaving, the knight removed a blue ribbon from his sleeve and tied it to a branch. “Let it wait for me. I believe that Archangel Michael will protect me, and when I return, I shall remove it myself.” Years passed. People saw the ribbon and began leaving their own beside it, carrying their hopes, dreams and promises. In this way, the tree became a symbol of faith and human hope.
