The Legend of the
Stone with the Cross

They say that this stone appeared in Arodes before many of the village’s present-day houses were built. No one remembers anymore who carved the five-pointed Templar cross into it. Some call it the pilgrims’ cross; others call it the knights’ symbol. One day, a father and son were standing beside the cross. The father quietly said to his son: “The cross never pointed towards treasure or hidden underground passages. It was left here for another purpose, and its treasure is far more valuable.” There is a legend in our family that, when a knight left the Holy Land, he carried away only what he had managed to preserve within his heart. It was not glory or wealth… Far more valuable was the understanding that a journey to the Holy Land was always a lesson in mercy. They say that the Templars carved crosses in places where one road ended and another began. This stone possesses a special power. Before beginning a journey, you may touch the stone and make a wish. But the wish must not be for yourself. It must be for someone who needs help today. They say that these are the wishes the old cross is most willing to grant.

Task

This is a miraculous stone. But its wonders only come true in one case: if the wish doesn’t concern the person making it. Place your hand on the stone, close your eyes, and make a wish for someone except yourself.
